GARDEN STATE: A FEELING FOR SPRING

Spring’s energy is like a palette cleanser – it’s a chance to boost your workday style with unexpected colour or the zing of a botanical print, think of it as a sartorial tonic to mark the new season. Where it really gets interesting, though, is in the reorganising. With each new season, the design team anchors ideas around shape and form – just what are the perfect foundation pieces, the staples we need to tie in nicely with last season’s looks whilst whooshing us forward?

One clue is confidence, the feelgood factor: it’s about examining the way a blazer makes you feel, how its strong lines pull back the shoulders, the way a dress twists and drapes with pulled-together polish and can be relied upon even when you’re panicked for time. It’s the considered mix. Here, we shine a light on essentials from the new season and how to wear them.

THE BOTANICAL PRINT

We love the vitality and verve of botanical prints – think artful styling gestures and opt for tailored pants in an unexpected neutral shade such as Eau De Nil, Lemon Curd or Jewel Green matched with a signature motif, the Golden Tulip Blouse. This classic silk top can be worn as an overshirt or neatly tucked and buttoned through, with a flowing scarf that ties neatly at the neck – it’s the perfect non-basic basic to build your look around. The new collections are thoughtfully done, made to layer together from one season to the next, and the house’s signature motifs are used throughout, including everything from vintage hardware to bamboo, flowers and spheres.

THE CARRY-ANYWHERE BAG

An ingenious handbag with an interchangeable handle proves the ultimate proposition when it comes to navigating the new workday uniform. The Quinn Hobo, a crescent-shaped bag that comes with handles in bamboo and leather in shades of Amber and Dark Treehouse, solves the work-to-dinner conundrum and allows for a little mid-week originality.

THE GARDEN PARTY DRESS

When thinking about the busyness of the upcoming party season, versatility – and personality – is key: the Spring Tulip and Dandelion Day dress are two elegant day-to-night options. Both designs walk the line between whimsical romance and modernity, with a subtle nod to the complexity of couture and the charm of garden party dressing, their floating silhouettes softened by key-hole necklines and three-quarter sleeves. Elegant ease.

THE FINISHING TOUCH

Dressing for the office requires interesting accents. That said, we’re focusing on clever textural effects that not only add an element of polish to your look but also say something about your personal style. The Dahlia Collectable Small Day Bag is beautifully crafted with smooth leather and features intricate handwoven detailing, a hark back to the archives, enhanced by a crossbody strap for versatility. Nostalgia and craft made modern, the winning formula.
